  • Festival week!

Its been so long since I have done this but I guess it would be a way to at least document the days as a diary.  This is the week to get ready for our annual school festival.  There are things to do yet but you know it will get done only with Jesus' help.  Today my daughter-in-law came and helped roll out pie crusts. I mixed them up and she rolled most of them out plus a few extra for my freezer!

My parents are working on eggs today for the big project of potato salad making for the festival.  Some of my cousins, aunts, my sister, her husband, my nephew and his family and maybe some others will come Friday to get 250 lbs of potatoes made into potato salad! I can't join them this year as we are on the festival committee, but I really would like to be there next year, Lord willing.

I have a new great niece as of last night!  Mackensie Rose, my brother Paul's first grandchild joined the family last night.  So glad that things went well.

Flowers are blooming, the garden is mostly planted.  I still need to work in my flower beds.

A verse that blessed me the other day..."Shall the axe boast itself against him that heweth therewith?  or shall the saw magnify itself against him that shaketh it?..." An axe or a saw is useless unless someone picks it up and chops with it or saws with it.  So I am a useless tool unless I am placed in the hands of my Master. May I be used of Jesus!

  •      This household is growing and being kept busy.  Right now there are basketball games to attend and three of the boys are involved in Bible Quizzing.  This Thursday will be another quiz meet.  At this point I am planning to go along for the day. May God's Word be fruitful in their lives.
Of course most of you have heard the happy news that our son Conrad is engaged to Delores Kilmer! She is a real blessing and we are now gaining a daughter! Here is a picture of them that happy night he proposed! They are planning a July wedding.

The other weekend we were at my sister's place in VA.  We got to see the new great-nieces. Twins, Helen and Allison. They are the daughters of my nephew Jerrel and his wife ,Karen.

Here is the other set of twins, Patrick and Heidi, with their mama, Malinda. Jonathan is their daddy  . They are 14 months now.

Here is great-nephew Travis.  He is the bright-eyed baby of my nephew, Arlen and his wife,Naomi.

Great-grandpa with Helen and Great-grandma with Allison.

My sister Shirley, with Brianna. Brianna is a sister to Helen and Allison.

Kristan and Karl are sister and brother to Patrick and Heidi.

     Shirley is a blessed grandma!
Today would have been my brother Joseph's 45th birthday. He has been in heaven almost 32 years. He is still my brother even though we have been separated for so long. It has been a journey without him and yet God's grace has been there. Tomorrow it will be a year that our niece,Melanie, went to be with Jesus as well. Marty and Lori, we have not forgotten. May God continue to bring healing to you.

  • School's Out

Tonight was the awards ceremony for our school, so summer vacation officially begins!  Yesterday was graduation services for 7 special young people of CCS.  Its always a good thing to hear their version of their time spent at school and how God is working in their lives.
Its nice to have a change of schedule but its also a challenge to find things for young men to do!  Yes, my boys are growing into young men! Conrad continues to have much interest in that "special" girl.   The other boys had a good school year.
Thursday is my wonderful husband's birthday!  I think for his special day he is going to go crabbing. He has often paid tribute to me,  but I must say that I have been blessed being his wife.  Marriage has its difficulties and yet it is such a blessing! Then there is the reminder that no one can completely meet our needs but the Lord Jesus Christ.  We did have a special anniversary in April.  Life is continuing to change but I need to learn to enjoy right now!!
      Goodnight everyone!

  • The days continue to pass quickly.  Brendon and Andrew are getting ready for convention but I think they are feeling a little stressed out.  Sunday is the student's practice convention where they get to do their platform events in front of the church.  It will be long but good I am sure.  Rob and I would like to go up next week for a few days.  We'll see how it goes.
This weekend my niece, Kimberly, is getting married.  So you know what that means?  Family time!! Jon and Dawn are planning to come tomorrow and then Maynard and Shirley will come sometime later.  Its a treasure to even have Kim as I think of her struggle with meningitis at 6 months of age and we wondered the outcome. Thank the Lord for His protection over her life. Then as I write that I think of Melanie and yet I know that God allows the things that will bring Him the most glory! I know Melanie is experiencing such bliss!
Tomorrow I plan to help out at school since Miss Cindi is on her honeymoon!  I need to get to bed.

  • Good Friday

We had a good service this morning.  John David Swartzentruber from Greenwood gave a message on The Cost, The Debt, and Our Response.  One thing that he brought out was the fact of God sending Adam and Eve out of the garden when they had sinned.  That was a demonstration of love because he didn't want them to eat of the Tree of Life and live forever in sin.  Also the whole thing of growing up in a Christian home and somehow feeling like some of my goodness has had a part in my salvation.  How do we get to the place where we really realize the undoneness of our lives? That there is no salvation apart from the atoning blood of Jesus Christ?  "Oh, Lord Jesus, grip my heart with the realization of how lost I am without you!"
We are anxiously awaiting the arrival of Conrad and the others who have been in Bangladesh the last two weeks.  We leave at 4:30 in the morning to go on the coach to pick them up!  We also have family in for Easter so we will get together again tomorrow evening for a meal.
Tonight we were at Rob's dad's for the first time since Melanie has gone to heaven.  Ben and Juanita came from VA.  Wow! What is there to say when one is missing from the crowd?  You feel it.  It seems unfair, here we are looking forward to Conrad's safe arrival (Lord willing) tomorrow and Marty and Lori will need to wait to see Melanie. Its a reminder to cherish those moments with your loved ones. Keep them in your prayers as they continue to adjust to a different life.
Delores(who  is Conrad's girlfriend) also had a stressful day with her brother in surgery alot of the day for a tear in his esophagus.  You can remember him too as he recovers. James and Cynthia Kilmer are their names. They have two children ,Riley and Yakira.
I need to sign off so I can get to bed and be up early for the ride! Naomi
